25-6-2014 Department of Fair Trading Queensland – Crowd Controllers

Crowd controllers are no longer required to record their residential address on crowd controller registers after an amendment to the Security Providers Regulation 2008 (the Regulation) was made on 8 May 2014.

The Regulation requires a liquor licensee to keep a register of crowd controllers working at the premises. The primary purpose of the register is to assist with identifying and locating crowd controllers, particularly after a serious incident involving a member of the public.

Certain details must be entered in the crowd controllers register and each entry is given an identification number which must be worn while the controller performs their duties.

The Regulation has been amended to ease concerns about inappropriate access to personal details.

Crowd controllers should make sure their residential address details recorded with OFT are accurate and kept up to date to ensure licence renewals are posted to the correct address.

Crowd controllers must notify Office of Fair Trading within 7 days if there are any licence changes, including a change of address.
